In regards to pollution, with rainfall, the chemicals can run off into near water sources.

Advancements in agriculture such as the switch from organic to chemical fertilizers and introduction of pesticides and pest-resistant strains have resulted in increased yields of healthy crops. But this fertilizer affects soil for if fertilizer is being used, the soil will not be fertile and the chemicals in the crops can harm the health of consumer.

This question is too broad to answer due the wide variety of chemicals in fertilizer, except to say that generally, the chemicals get into the crops and then into those who eat the crops, which is why organic farming is becoming more and more popular and desired by people who have studied this issue.

They can harm you by getting the chemicals in the fertilizers into your body. The fertilizer does this by they chemicals in it get into the ground and if you have a well; they water still has a little bit of chemicals in it. If you don't have a well, you still might want to be careful. I'm not sure if this is right but I'm pretty sure this answer is a lot better than most people would put. My mom is doing a research project about chemical and organic fertilizers so I'm am learning a lot from her and she is learning a lot from me. HOPE THIS HELPS!!!
