Why are grunts bad in Halo 3?
You know this REALLY bothered me in Halo 3. Because I mean, come on! They were all great and wonderful to the elites in Halo 2 ,and then all of asudden they have a huge change of heart? That just doesn't make any sense. The grunts are still enemies because they never rebelled against the prophets. It was the Sangheili (that is the actual "race" name for the Elites) that rebelled against the teachings of the prophets.

Sadly no, the creators of Halo 3 felt that if you had hunters and grunts as allies(the ones that sided with the Elites) and enemies(the ones that sided with the Prophets and Brutes) it would confuse the player. But some still stayed sided with the Elites, but you just don't see them in Halo 3, you see them in Halo 2 during the Covenant Civil War.

Elites are the Shangeili (probably spelled wrong) they are an alien race (if you haven't already found out) that joined the covenant after losing a war with the Prophets. They were used to guard the prophets as their personal guards (elite honor guard). After being betrayed during the human covenant war, by the prophets, they ally with the humans to help fight the covenant during the battle to the ark and the battle for earth. They are well known for being highly trained and skilled warriors fearless. After the H.C. war they tasked them selves with destroying the remaining covenant forces, as well as killing the remaining brutes. In Halo Reach they are the force at the very beginning of the series in halo CE. Basically they are the same as in halo 1/anniversary and parts of H2, but they just look different. How did halo start?
Halo started when The Covenant attacked UNSC battle ships. The UNSC had to flee because The covenant was to strong. The UNSC later discovered that The Covenant want to use an old weapon called The Ark which holds seven Halo rings destined to destroy humanity. The UNSC tries to stop The Covenants high holy leaders called The Prophets from doing this. The most worshipped and dangerous prophets were The Prophet of Mercy, The Prophet of Regret, and The Prophet of Truth. They continue to attempt to achieving this conflict as the UNSC struggles to stop them from destroying Earth and the entire human race.
