The Rocky Planets are:
The Gaseous Planets are:
The first four planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Earth) are called the inner planets which are closer to the sun and stripped of their light gasses by the sun's solar winds. The solar winds then carry the debris (elements) to where the winds tend to "die down" which is right near Jupiter. Thus, all the debris is mostly swept up by Jupiter and Saturn (which is why they appear so large), however, Uranus and Neptune are less gaseous because they are just so far away from the sun. Therefore, the first four planets are dense with a hard iron core, whereas the last four planets are gaseous and BIG.
The composition (the "stuff" they are made of) of the two types are very different.
Terrestrial planets, or "rock" planets, are composed mainly of metals and/or silicate rocks.
They tend to be (relatively) small in size.
Jovian planets, or "gas" planets, are obviously composed of gasses. Hydrogen (H) and Helium (He), are usually in high abundance, along with trace amounts of other gaseous elements.
Interestingly, it is also theorized that some Jovians, such as Jupiter, may also have a solid core.
Finally, the composition of Uranus and Neptune differ from that of Jupiter and Saturn. While all are primarily H and He, the two most distant planets also have higher amounts of "ices". Examples are methane, ammonia, and H2O. Planets such as Uranus and Neptune are sometimes categorized as "ice giants".
The four inner, rocky planets are also known as the terrestrial planets. These are; Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. The four outer gas giant planets are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
gas planets are made out of gas rock planets are made out of rocks that form together
the rocky planets are small, dense, and rocky, while the gaseous planets are huge, less dense, and made up mainly of gas
The four inter. Plants are rocky and the other plants are gases
Gas giants have small core made of rock while rocky inner planets have their very own bodies made of rock.
the inner planets are rocky and warm and the outer planets are made out of gas and is cold
There are four planets that are made out of gas: Jupiter, Saturn, Urans and Neptune. These planets are called the "gas giants" . The other four planets (Earth, Mercury, Venus and Mars) are mostly made out of rock.
Large bodies of rock or gas that revolve around a star are planets.
Because the inner planets are made of rock but the outer planets are made of gas(except for Pluto).
There are a lot of differences between the inner and outer planets. First of all, they inner planets are also known as the "Rocky planets". THey are rocky, hence their name "Rocky planets". And the outer planets are also known as "Gas Giants." THey are mainly composed of gas, hence their name, "Gas Giants." Another difference is their mass. The outer planets have greater mass than the inner planets. In other words, they are heavier. The inner planets follow orbital paths which, like those of the outer planets, are centered on the sun. But the inner planets, without exception, are nearerto the sun than any of the outer planets are.
The first 4 planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars, are called rock planets, and the last 4, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, are the gas planets. The main differences between these two groups are that the rock planets are made of rock, the gas planets are made of gas, the rock planets are typically smaller than the gas planets, and the gas planets have rings.
Inner planets are mostly rock and outer planets are mostly gas.
there are gas planets and rock planets
The five major differences between the gas giant planets and the rocky planets are as follows: 1. Gas giants are larger, both in diameter and in mass. 2. Gas giants have a much larger proportion of hydrogen and other light weight elements. Rocky planets have more rock. 3. Gas giants are farther away from the sun. 4. Gas giants are much colder. 5. Gas giants are made mostly (in some cases, perhaps entirely) of gas, while rocky planets are mostly solid with comparatively little gas. Edit: Here's another, if you want 6 differences: The Gas Giants have extensive systems of moons (and they have rings too).
No, they are not, they are both rock planets.
Of the 8 planets, four are rocky and four are gas planets, so there are equal numbers.
yes
A terrestrial planet is made of rock, in which there is life on. However, a gaseous planet is made of gas, in which there is no life on.

Two main differences between Pluto and it's gas giant neighbours are:1. Size - The gas planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus) are huge compared to Pluto. Neptune, the smallest of the gas giants, has a diameter that is over 20x that of Pluto, and a mass that is more than 7786x that of Pluto. In fact, compared to Earth, Pluto is tiny, with a diameter that is less than 0.02% that of Earth and a mass that is less than 19% that of Earth!2. Composition - The gas planets are, as their name suggests, composed of gas. Pluto, on the other hand, is rocky. Although the exact composition of Pluto has yet to be verified, it is estimated that it is made up of 50-70% rock and 30-50% ice.
Large bodies of rock or gas that revolve around a star are planets.
The sun is made up of gas and the planets turn around it, whereas the planets are made up of what we find in the ground. Also, the sun is ALOT bigger and hotter than the planets.
