Third, if something needs to be moved, make a record of it. Fourth, take steps to secure the area from curious people. Fifth, take precise notes of time and events as they occur. Sixth, establish a safe walk area for additional officers that will be arriving. Seventh, the crime scene officer is responsible for the security of the crime scene until an investigation officer arrives. Lastly, try to remain on the scene as long as possible.
