transverse waves are...well.. wavy when compression waves are like a domino affect or like pushing a spring the similarities is that the both transport power from point a to point b however their movement is very different

Longitudinal waves are scalar waves with the divergence of the vector vibration, Del.dEv/cdt . Transverse waves are vector waves with the curl of the vector vibration, DelxdEv/cdt

Both of the waves have a wavelength. The particle movement is the difference between them.
