The Neutral Safety switch enables the vehicle to ONLY start in either Park or neutral for Automatics and Only when clutch is engaged in vehicles with a manual Transmission.
The switch will either work or not work. Their is no slow fade in operation.
If the neutral safety switch is bad it will not send a signal or ground out the transmission so the vehicle will start. ALSO...If the wire leading to or from the switch is frayed , cut, or disconnected, the vehicle when not be able to start as well.
