El Paso is touched by two ranges Hueco and Franklin Mountains and in Palo Pinto County is the home of the Palo Pinto range which while they don't put up big altitude numbers are a pleasant change to the landscape especially when viewed from the East. As big as Brewster County is only the Chalk mountains break up a high plains landscape. The Chisos Mountain Range is the centerpiece of the Big Bend National Park but the biggest and most glorious of the Texas Mountain Ranges are the Davis and Guadlupe Ranges. The Davis Range seems to jump out at you as you approach in the same way that approaching from Kansas to the Rockies must have turned many a fortune hunter back to the prarie. The 'gem' is El Capitain and Guadalupe Peak the highest point in the Texas which lies on the southern border of New Mexico near the lower right angle of the Texas Panhandle. And that is only seven.
