The timing is electronic controlled. You MUST have an OBDII engine scanner to set the timing to specs. Timing light will not work.

get a haynes repair manual for your model or a grand am of the same gen. look up the engine being either the 3400 or the four cylinder and on the cover page it should be right there.
1996 and newer OBD-II Jeeps have no adjustments for timing. The Powertrain Control Module computer monitors and controls the timing.
check your vehicle specs or do a web search. typically you are looking at 70-100k for most vehicles and if you have an interference engine, you will suffer top end damage if the belt breaks. If it a Grand Caravan it should have the 3.8L engine which has a timing chain which does not require replacement at a regular interval.

You can not use a timing light to set the timing on that year engine. The ignition timing is COMPUTER CONTROLLED. If you have not fooled with the distributor then there is no reason to adjust it. But if you have bother it then you will need an oBDII engine scanner to put the timing back to factory specs.
