There are hundreds. Prior to Rock "N" Roll in the early 50's was a great song by the Weavers called Whimoweh. The Tokens did a rock version many years later called The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Why Don't You Believe Me by Joni James was also a great song.
Some early Rock 'N' Roll songs were Gee by the Crows, Earth Angel by the Penquins. In the Still Of the Night by the 5 Satins. Ling Ting Tong by the 5 Keys, Tonite Tonite by the Mello-Kings, Deserie by the Charts ETC. ETC.
Go to the library and get a CD collection of The Platters. That music is irresistible.
