Management and sales. Most US hotels and restaurants are chains owned by large corporations. At the corporate or franchise level, the highest paying jobs are CEO, COO, CFO and V.P. of Sales & Marketing. At the hotel level, the highest paying jobs are hotel General Manager, Asst. General Manager and Director of Sales, followed by department heads including Executive Housekeeper, Chief Engineer and Front Office Manager. In restaurants, it's General Manager followed by Kitchen Manager and Front End (or Dining Room) manager. Usually for both the GM reports to a Regional Manager, who earns more.
