What are the types of graph?
There are lots of types of graphs. There's a bar graph, a pictograph, pie or circle graph, line graph and lots more. I can't think of anymore. +++ :-) I can think of two more to help you, and the above have variations on them! The two more are the Column Chart (like a bar chart but with vertical stripes), and the Polar Graph, which is circular, of amplitude v. angle - but is not…
There are a lot more than just four types of graph. A graph is simply a way to present information in a visual form. One of my favourites is Minard's graphic display of Napoleon's army's march into and retreat from Russia. See link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_invasion_of_Russia#Weather_as_a_factor
The word graph can be used either as a noun or a verb. As a noun, it means a picture or visualization of some mathematical term or relationship. The most usual type of graph is the Cartesian coordinate system invented by the great French mathematician, René Descartes, but there are several other types. As a verb, to graph is to depict in the form of a graph, as in, graph that equation.
The four types of graphs are: 1)Bar Graph 2)Picto Graph 3)Circle/Pie Graph 4)Line Graph the line graph is best used for showing change in data over time. the circle/pie graph is best used for showing fractions of a whole. ex, 5 most populated countries population are added together and then divided amongst the countries in fractions. the bar and picto graph are used to show total amounts of data, answered using a survey or other…
A pie graph if you only wanted to show the different types of engineers at one point in time. Stacked bars if you wanted to show, for example, the different types of engineers at one point in time that are employed in different sectors. A number of line charts if you want to show how the different types of engineers changed over time.
There are very many types of graphs and not all of these have a name. One of my all time favourites is Minard's graph depicting the march of Napoleon's army to Moscow and its retreat. See, for example, //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Joseph_Minard#/media/File:Minard.png There is no name for such a graph.
A circle graph is usually called a Pie or Donut graph. You highlight the data you want to graph and click on the type of graph you want to insert. You will find graphs on the Instert Tab in the Graphs section. You can use Excel to make the following types of Charts and Graphs: Column Line Pie Bar Area X Y (Scatter) Stock Surface Doughnut Bubble Radar
