agar is used for two different things ... the 1st thing is that agar is used for cooking and the 2nd reason is that agar is used to make agar jelly so if you put the agar jelly in a jar (with a lid!) you can wipe your hand on the jelly then put the lid on top then later on you will see microbes form on the agar. thank you for reading x

Agar plate is for isolation of bacteria and fungi. A solid surface makes it easy for bacteria to grow into single colonies. Agar slant is for preserving cultures of bacteria. With screw cap tubes, the agar does not dry up easily. The tubes take very small storage space.
