∙ 11y agoMost likely to extend the length of the wires. But there are rules!!!! You cannot splice electrical wires in walls floors or ceilings. You can no longer use junction boxes inside of walls. That was a common practice in bathrooms years ago to split the wire for the light over the sink and an outlet near the sink. I don't know how many times I have run across wires just spliced to each other and surrounded with about three rolls of electrical tape!!!
