Should endosulfan be baned in India?

I have been looking at this issue for long and i could not find a convincing reason why it should not be banned . Yes there will be loss for the manufacturers of endosulfan but that is not the reason for not banning it. Endosulfan is highly toxic and proven genotoxin, endocrine disruptor, neurotoxin and more. It is the pesticide of the past. The concept of modern agriculture in the last century was involving lots of pesticides and chemicals in production and we realise now that we could not sustain those production and s more moving to low external input sustainable agriculture which is the way of agriculture today and we do not need killer that damages everything and gets transported all around the world. The science evidence gives that it is also bio accumulating and hence more damaging to health and environment . In short we have had all kind of experiences with this pesticide and the harm it caused so far clearly recommend a ban of the same. Leo: Endosulfan is a cheap pesticide costing Rs. 220 per liter against imidachloprid (its substitute) which costs Rs. 2000 per litre. The EU recommends that the farmers in India should substitute Endosulfan with imidachloprid or others like thiamethoxam (Rs. 3200 per litre) or coregen (Rs. 700 per litre). Imidachloprid is an EU patent pesticide. It goes to show that if Endosulfan gets banned, it's going to have a deep irreversible impact on the Indian economy as a poor farmer will not be able to afford the expensive substitutes to Endosulfan. I say No Ban on Endosulfan!
