What types of trees grow in Japan?

The country of Japan is home to a vast array of plant life; forest making up seventy percent of its terrain. The flora that grow in these forests are considered sacred, and can remain untouched for countless centuries. Some of the oldest trees in these wooded areas are over seven thousand years old, reaching heights of over one hundred-fifty feet.

There are a wide variety of trees in these forests, including - but not limited to - oak, pine, cypress, cedar and maple trees.
