A single line denotes the path a magnet will take if it comes into that field( thus two lines will never intersect) and closer lines indicate strong field whereas spread out lines indicate low field strength.

This is only a pictorial representation there are no such actual lines coming out of N pole of the magnet or going inside the S pole( the drawing is intended to explain the strength and direction of the field)

Field lines that are close together indicate a stronger electric field. They don't affect the charge that created them. They never cross.
