Puerto Rico is surrounded by water: the Atlantic Ocean to the north, the Caribbean Sea to the south. There are several freshwater lakes or lagoons, the largest being four east of San Juan (Laguna San Jose, Laguna Los Corozos, Laguna Torrecilla, Laguna Piñones), around the airport. Slightly smaller are Tortuguero Lagoon in north central Puerto Rico, Guajataca Reservoir in the western hignlands, and Laguna Grande on the NE tip of the island.
