The Rio Grande River is the source of drinking water for Deep South Texas, and it is used by farmers to irrigate their crops. The source of the Rio Grande is in Colorado, and the mouth is at the Gulf of Mexico. When it isn't blocked by a sand bar, the river empties into the Gulf.
