∙ 13y agoI would imagine all tequilla is 100% tequilla. I think a better question would be which brands of tequilla are made from 100% Agave. Typically the cheaper tequillas (7.5 ml bottles cheaper than $20) are made with higher concentrations of sugar and not 100% Agave.

∙ 11y agoThere is no sugar added to tequila, it is made purely from a MASH of roasted blue maguey agave pinas[hearts].
Mezcal on the other hand can have up to 40% other ingredients including sugars, and can be made from a few different maguey agaves.
As for better it is purely a matter of one's taste. I've had good mezcals, and I've had bad tequilas. Monte Alban's is a mezcal that I like among others. Among tequilas I prefer Chinaco, and do not like Jose Cuervo or Patron, two I think that have a following only because of names and personalities associated with them.
Sauza has a decent reposado. Vida is another fairly good tequila.
For a very good tequila [or mezcal] you will pay probably about $60 a bottle, but I had a bad experience with a bottle that cost me $80. Price doesn't denote quality.
Again, everyone's tastes differ, what I like you may not, what you like others won't, it's the way it is. Anyone who's had a bad experience with tequila or mezcal will tell you they don't like it, but given different brands might change their minds.
