There is no real explanation for this, but two horses harnessed together will always be able to pull more weight. Typically a draft horse can pull it's own weight and up to twice it's own weight on it's own. So for a 2000 pound draft that's 2000 to 4000 pounds that it can pull on it's own. Harness two horses together and they can pull 4,000 to 8,000 pounds.
Heavy draft horses can pull that amount of weight when hitched up in teams of two or more horses. Some of the strongest breeds are: Shire, Brabant, Suffolk Punch, Percheron, Belgian, Clydesdale, and Canadian horse.
Exactly? A very fit Shire, Clysedale, or Suffolk punch. ( sorry bout the spelling of clysedale :s)
Typically the breeds of choice for heavy pulling is the Belgian or the Shire. Both of these breeds tend to be the strongest of the draft horse breeds.
There are tons of horse kinds, over 100, so no one can really answer that, because some are unknown.
A one horse open sleigh? probably one.
Typically just one horse was used to pull a Shay.
It would most likely take 500 draft horses to pull that amount of weight. A draft horse can easily pull twice it's own weight, so an average draft horse weighing 2,000 pounds can pull 4,000 pounds.
its because their is two, two can obviously pull more than one plus the weight is more evenly spread when two horses are side by side
Unverifiable: ---------------- The record set for a two horse team is 52 tonne. This was set by 2 clydsdales pulling a sled with logs on it across snow. Verifiable: ------------- However since 52 tonne's is equal to about 104,000 lbs this record is questionable. In the sport of horsepulling in which horses pull against a dynometer more recent verifiable records have teams of two horses pulling around 5,000 lbs. Common Motivational Story: ----------------------------------- There is a common motivational story which is used to outline what can be accomplished by teamwork. The anecdote goes something along the lines of: "One horse can pull a ton, but when you have two horses they can pull 27 tons." No evidence has been shown to verify this motivation story.
their main function was to pull heavy machinery and plough fields.
Horses is plural One horse. Two horses.
A herd of horses
Typically, draft horses can pull about 6 times their own body weight. A draft can pull a lot more than an Arab.
You cant and you only can have one horse at a time.
I did so by trampling a worker on one of the horses in the coral on Mcfarline's ranch, they would then pull me off the horse and get on themselves, then you pull them back off the horse and mount it, they will begin shooting and the Law will come and shoot them down.
