Washington's first cabinet consisted of Thomas Jefferson (state), Alexander Hamilton( treasury), Henry Knox (war) and Edmund Jennings Randolph (justice). Jefferson was later replaced by Randolph who was replaced by Thomas Pickering. Hamilton was replaced by Oliver Wolcott. Knox was replaced at first by Pickering and then by James McHenry when Pickering moved to the state dept.. Randolph was replaced at first by Wm Bradford and then by Charles Lee.
