What is your cat saying with their tails?

Cats move their tails in different ways. They cant talk, but their tail can tell how they feel. When a cats' tail is sticking straight up, they are saying a friendly "hello" (happy to see you). A relaxed cat curves his/her tail in a U-Shape. A wagging tail tells you the cat is unhappy. A tail thumping to the ground means the cat is going to attack. A twitchy tail means the cat is ready to pounce. Cats sweep their tail side to side if they are feeling excited or aggressive.

Cats have emotions like any other animal does. Sometimes they do not show it. One way to tell if your beloved cat is not in the happiest mood it the constant swaying of the tail. Does he/she have his/her tail up or down? Are her/his ears forward or bent back? You can tell by closely observing.

How do you know when a cat is sad?

Well, I have owned cats since I was 5, and usually you can tell when their tail is constantly limp, or they will not get up to eat or drink. Usually cats are not so much sad as feeling sick or angry. They rarely get just sad. When mine was feeling badly, his eyes leaked a gooey substance and he wouldn't get up for anything. He'd just lay there all day. Check the cat's eyes, they normally squint and have their tail wag at least a few inches. If not, you may have a sick/sad kitty.
