Marijuana. Look into Medical Marijuana for chronic pains, it is has no negative effects on the body. It isn't advisable to take Medical Marijuana if you have a family history of schizophrenia, or bi-polar disorder.

METHADONE - It is equally potent to Morphine and produces the same effects, it is a lot safer because it is synthetic and does not attack your liver like morphine/heroin/oxycodone/hydromorphone/oxymorphone/hydrocodone, etc. And is a lot cheaper then morphine or oxycodone, if you take 5 MG...3 times a day and 90 pills a month you can get it without insurance for as cheap as 10 dollars at some pharmacy's.

Unfortunately, there is no substitute for methadone. Methadone is the substitute drug for other opiates, but you can't substitute methadone, you will still feel the NASTY withdrawal symptoms if you are prescribed to it trying to get clean from it. I would recommend going to a detox treatment center if you are not prescribed to methadone and going through their program because they will safely detox you from whatever you are trying to get off of by using vitamins and natural drugs to make you feel better, but you will still feel nasty. Methadone IS NOT a drug to play with, do not take it if you are not prescribed to it or hooked on opiates. If you are hooked on opiates I would recommend buying a very small dose of methadone once a day instead of using needles or snorting opiates, while doing everything you need to do to get administered into the methadone maintenance program. Just use a very, very small dose of methadone, ONCE a day, while you are doing all the paperwork and doctor visits to get prescribed to methadone.

On a scale from one to ten, with one being hardly any withdrawal and ten being extremely severe withdrawal I will show basically what it is like to go without methadone, which is why you should never take methadone unless you are trying to get clean from another opiate, or unless you are prescribed to it for either pain or opiate addiction. I see many kids taking methadone thinking they can get high off it, but little do they know its not that simple and methadone has the WORST withdrawal of any drug ever put on the market, even heroin.

Oxycontin withdrawal - 5/10 (manageable, if addicted to oxy, I would recommend getting of it without going to methadone because it basically is ten times harder to get off methadone then oxy.)

Methadone withdrawal - 20/10 (undeniably, the worst drug to withdrawal from, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.)

" me on a fentanyl 37mcg/hr patch, but it didn't help me,"

This just proves that there is no universal replacement and you minds well try all of things that humans have used for pain and see cheap one with little side effect works for you. Alcohol, accupunture, asprin, marijuana etc.

Very good. Everyone has different experiences and preferences, but I know many people who prefer methadone for pain relief above all other medications.

Can you take methadone while on herion?

yes.. i have known people to abuse methadone when they cannot find heroin. methadone also has a withdrawl factor that can be compared to actual heroin withdrawl. eventhough it is used to get off heroin its really just substituting one for the another.

What is the category for morphine?

Methadone is an opiate medication (specifically an long-acting opiate agonist). It is prescribed in tablet form to treat pain, and in liquid form (at specially approved clinics) to treat opiate addiction - especially when withdrawing from heroin. Methadone is a DEA category 2 medication (as is the case with all other opiates, with the exception of codeine).

What are some other ways to treat opiate addiction other than rehab?

Morphine, OxyContin, Methadone and other opiate drugs can be used to help the symptoms of painful withdrawals and cravings. However, rehab centers are the best places to have it administered correctly.

Does methadone have opiate in them?

I suppose how one could come to this conclusion based on common usage (substitution for heroin) This is definitely not the case. Methadone increases your opiate tolerance possibly more than other common opiates, codeine, oxycodone, etc. This is because methadone is an opiate itself and it shows a very high binding affinity to your opiate receptors, meaning that the methadone attaches more strongly to your "brain" and will, in turn, raise the production of QFQ considerably. So no, Methadone will definitely NOT lower your tolerance to opiate meds or any other opiate for that matter since it is an opiate in itself.

Why don't you get a buzz on methadone maintenance?

The purpose of methadone maintenance is to treat opiate addiction and in some cases pain management. Methadone is not meant to produce an euphoric effect and if a buzz feeling results after taking methadone, that usually means it is too much.

What pain medication will break through methadone 190mgs?

Well, no opiate-based pain medication will. Because methadone is an opiate, and because 190mg's is so much, there is no way any other opiate will be able to get through to the opioid receptors with that much methadone. You will have to take something for pain that is not opiate-based.

Will methadone stop Oxycontin withdrawals?

Yes, methadone is used to treat withdrawals from Oxycontin and other opiate drugs.

Does methadone have a opiate blocker in it?

Unlike actual opioid antagonists (such as naltrexone and naloxone), which bind to opioid receptors, preventing binding by opiates (thus, blocking opiates and their effects), methadone only partially blocks other opiates. Methadone is an opioid agonist, meaning that it binds with and activates opioid receptors. However, during the time that it occupies the opioid receptor, it competes with other opiates, and prevents them from binding. While, at a receptor level, this produces a partial "blocking" effect, the overall availability of methadone throughout the system would have to be significant enough to produce this effect everywhere in order to truly "block" other opiates. So, the short answer is: partially

Does methadone show up as an opiate in a hair drug test?

No methadone does not come from the opium poppy. it is all synthetic and made in a lab. All it does is cover the opiate receptors in the brain. you need a whole other test for methadone. Suboxone may come up as an opiate in a hair test because it isn't all synthetic.

Do methadone drug tests show the same as any other drugs?

Methadone will only show up as methadone cause it is a synthetic opiate that requires its own specific test.

Can a physician write a prescription for Methadone?

Only physicians who have been certified to specifically prescribe Suboxone can prescribe the medication for opiate addiction; this certification requires an 8-hour course and registration with the DEA, and requires the doctor to agree to certain terms including a cap on patients and the ability to offer therapy. Buprenorphine virtually eliminates opiate cravings and places opiate addiction in remission, but does not cure the addiction. As opiate dependence is a life-long condition, treatment with Suboxone or other buprenorphine medications must be continued indefinately, unless replaced with a twelve-step program or other recovery plan. Suboxone has been compared to methadone, but the action of buprenorphine at the opiate receptor is significantly different than the action of methadone, resulting in a different effect profile. While the DEA waiver is required to treat addiction using Suboxone, no special waiver or permission is required to use Suboxone or other buprenorphine product for treatment of pain. Buprenorphine has been used for acute pain treatment for a number of years, and currently is being investigated in a number of studies for treatment of chronic pain.
