∙ 11y agoA stingray is a type of fish, so it can swim, eat other sealife (from plankton to fish to other rays, depending on its size), raise offspring, and sting a person if stepped on.
Stingrays don't usually 'attack' people, but since they are bottom dwellers and can live in very shallow water, they sometimes are stepped on. Many people either throw stones in shallow water first to scare the rays away or walk with a shuffling motion, not lifting their feet, to scare them away so they don't step on one.
