so long as you eat something, you are already "eating vitamins". taking into consideration that you aren't "taking" vitamins, you'd still be healthy as long as you have a well-balanced diet, that is assuming of course that you do not have conditions which would require you to take vitamin supplements. this is the truth trust me.
You won't be able to absorb calcium, so it is possible that you will develop osteoporosis. The only way to know what your vitamin D level is, is to have it checked by your doctor. If it is low, your doctor can tell you the best treatment.
In my case, so far nothing bad. I can't swallow pills, so I choose to eat a varied diet and try to get all my nutritional requirements from food. To the best of my knowledge, I'm doing just fine and am relatively healthy.
Different vitamins are needed for different things. You will probably have a vitamin deficiency. For instance, if you don't get enough of Vitamin A, you skin and vision may become unhealthy.
One or more vitamin deficiency diseases: scurvy, rickets, etc.
If the child has a proper diet it should not need extra vitamins. That goes for adults as well.
