The parents can file a report with the local police stating the minor is a runaway (designated when the minor's whereabouts is unknown). Or if they know or believe they know where the minor is they file an "absentee minor" report and then request the court to have the minor returned to their custody. The judge will issue a requisition order, the police who have jurisdiction in the area where the minor is staying, will take said minor into custody and have them placed in a juvenile facility until a court hearing. Any adult who knowingly aids a minor who has left the home w/o parental consent, can be held criminally and civily responsible.

If you were beaten, sexually molested, or mistreated in any way then you had reason to leave. 18 is the legal age (but, a 14 year old in Texas can work in some establishments with the exception of gambling, or any place that has alcohol and this includes tobacco products as well.
