Fossils can give a good estimate in which these events occurred also fossils tell us if their were floods, earthquakes and other disasters.
fossils are used in determinig the age of the earth by looking at the similar species today and how they evolved

I think they are called Index Fossils...
Fossils themselves can very rarely be dated by any means...their age is usually judged by the geological assessment of the area and layer in which they are found
Index fossils can be used to help determine the relative age of rock layers. Index fossils are from species that only existed for a short time. Index fossils are found in rock layers. Trilobites and Graptolites are index fossils.
The age limits for radiocarbon dating anything is about 100-40,000 years. However, to date the early hominid fossils that have been found in Africa scientists have used Argon/Argon dating to date the volcanic lava and ash it was buried between. The age limits of Argon/Argon dating are 1,000 to the oldest rocks on earth. Generally, you never really date the item of interest when figuring out the age. You will date items that it was used with, buried with, cooked with, etc. Many different dating methods are used to date the items and the age limits vary between each method.
Radioactive dating refers to the process of measuring the age of an object using the amount of a given radioactive material it contains. Relative dating, meanwhile, measures the order of past events, without determining their absolute age.

The two methods are "RELATIVE DATING" and "ABSOLUTE DATING". :)
no but you can tell the age of the fossil from the age of the rock around it, you cant tell the age of the earth from fossils is because animals with bones were didnt exist until later in the earth's "life"
Scientists can compare the ages of the fossils in one layer of the earth and then compare thoes to fossils in another layer of the earth. The one that is deeper is most likely to be older:)
True.
3.5 billion years
relative and absolute. relative is determining the relative order of past events, without necessarily determining their absolute age. Absolute is the process of determining an approximate computed age in archaeology and geology.
Radiocarbon dating cannot be used to determine the age of fossils or "of the earth" because these materials no longer have radiocarbon or have negligible amount of radiocarbon.
Geochronology is the method of determining the absolute age of rocks, using radiometric methods.
fossils.
The study of strata is called stratigraphy. Stratigraphy can be used to determine an approximate age of fossils in rocks.
