do not try to 'steal' him or whatever it would make matters between you and your friend worse id say just leave it alone until they move on from each other but if they don't then maybe you should move on or before you do that tell your friend how you feel about this guy and asure her you wont 'take' him but just wanted to let her know about it....
Also, talk it out with her and the guy. Explain to the guy that you want to be friends.
If the guy and your best friend separate, wait at least a month before you try flirting with him. MAke sure it's okay with your best friend.
