Well firstly , you need to give it full attention and gain its trust as a pregnant dog can be very unpredictable , give it a nice little pen where it will give birth to its litter , make sure you know what your doing when she starting whelping (giving birth) , make sure you have medical equipment and towels as it can be very messy , it may sound harsh but you will need to tie it down in the pen because as it will want to go to where it wants to go when its giving birth as its their insticnt , also it may start digging the pen but that is also natural. When a puppy does come out, make sure you have warm towels (preferably those pre-heated in the dryer) to help dry the pup and to help it take its first breath. Keep the puppy (and other puppies that follow) in warm towels near the mother, so that the new mother can lick her puppies and urge them to start suckling.
