I have taken my St. John's Ambulance Babysitting course (Canadian Babysitting course) and the things we were taught were
- Basic First Aid (ranging from chemical burns, to choking children, to basic CPR)
- How to take care of smaller children (e.g ages 0-3)
- How to deal with parents of children you babysit (e.g if you have issues with wages, if the parent were to put you in danger, if you feel uncomfortable with the parent)
- In my course we went over simulations if also you were home alone
I took this course according to the 2004 protocols so things have probably changed, don't follow this to heart because all instructors and teachers are different.
