I'm not ENTIRELY sure, But, Since the HD-DVD player requires the small wavelength of a blue lazer to read the disk, I'm assuming that normall DVD players won't play HD-DVD's. I have never tried it though.
most definately. An HDTV is simply a TV that has a higher resolution. It in no way limits what quality of film you can watch. For instance, most TV channels are not HD. HDTV's are able to work at several different resolutions just like any computer monitor can.
Sorry, but no. Not unless the HD-DVD player has a Blu-Ray logo on it. Blu-Ray and HD-DVD are different competing formats, like VHS and Betamax. Unfortunately, it looks like the HD-DVD format is going the way of Betamax -- Walmart recently announced that they will no longer carry HD-DVD.
no. high definition (HD) DVDs are not playable on regular or blue ray DVD players, due to the fact that HD DVDs are designed differently. therefore, they need to be played on a HD DVD compatible player. however, there are some brands of HD DVD players that will allow standard DVDs to be played, which means that you will experience HD- like playback. it is my understanding that these players are known as up converting DVD players. finally, it is my understanding that you can only play blue ray discs on a blue ray DVD player.
A regular DVD player will not play HD DVD discs. You will need an HD DVD player to use these DVDs.
An HD-DVD player or if you get the external drive for the 360, but warning if you dont know HD-DVD is dead and lost the war.
No you can not as DVD drives do not have the sufficent Codecs and Hardware to play/support HD DVD Discs
1. Put in DVD 2. Open DVD Player 3. Press play 4. Enjoy.
If your DVR has a built in DVD player, yes.
In order to get the full HD experience you need an HDMI cable to connect a DVD/VCR combo to an HDTV.
You insert the DVD into the DVD player. If no screen comes up on the television, then, make sure all the cords on the back of the DVD player are connected correctly to the television set.
you use a 3-pron connector (yellow. red, white) in to the input in the playstation 2 or portable DVD player.
To play a HD DVD you need a HD DVD player. A standard DVD player will not play a HD DVD, nor will a Blu-ray player. HDMI is just a connection: it won't give your standard DVD player superpowers.
No, regular DVD players can not play HD DVDs. We need an HD DVD player. - Neeraj Sharma

* No you cannot, you need an HD-DVD player to play HD-DVD's * * HD-DVD is a brand of high definition DVD, just like "Sony" is a brand of electronics. Since an HD-DVD is its own brand and competes with Blu-Ray, the other brand of high definition DVD, it is proprietary and can only be played on HD-DVD brand DVD players. An upconverting DVD player is a DVD player that takes standard definition DVD's (in 480p) and uses digital technology to upconvert them to a 1080i or 1080p definition.
The PS3 has an inbuilt Blu-Ray player. Which basically is a HD player.
Which HD DVD?
HD DVD is an obsolete format: Toshiba stopped supporting it in February 2008. You still see the players around in discount stores, but no-one is making the discs anymore. The remaining format for high definition DVD is blu ray. To play a HD DVD disc (assuming you have one) you need a HD DVD player (it will also play standard DVDs). For a blu ray disc you need a blu ray player (it will also play standard DVDs). A standard DVD player will not play either HD DVD or blu ray, and cannot be altered so that it will play either (a standard DVD player uses the wrong kind of scanning laser).
