This is quite a vague question.

Transgendered persons are people who present a gender role that is at odds with their body and the expectations of society. They are gender variant, often by choice. Transsexual folks are people who, for whatever reason, have been born into a body that does not fit with their mind, emotions, and feeling of self. They are gender conformists. They will usually choose to have hormone therapy and/or surgery to alter their body to fit their sense of self. Transgender people rarely take such steps since they are not fully the gender they present as, but are gender variant.

They are people, just like you and I, and should be treated as such. Most TG persons only crossdress or cross-live, but not really transition. In the early stages of transition, a transsexual person may stick out in a crowd and be mislabled as a transgendered person (or other type of crossdresser) at best or a pervert at worst. This is why it is always best to refer to someone as the gender they are presenting, not what your opinion of their birth sex may be.

Transgender and transsexual individuals can be of any race, ethnic group, gender, orientation, and everything in between. Assuming anything about a person by the way they look is wrong, be it their race, your assumption of their sexuality, or what your opinion of what they have between their legs may be.

There is as much to say about transgendered or transsexual people as there is to say about everyone else.
