Hydrogen is the most common element in the universe followed by Helium (what stars are mostly made of).

On the Periodic Table the "Transition Metals" have the most elements. The periodic table can be broken up into the following catagories from left to right: Alkali Metals, Alkaline Earth Metals, Transition Metals, Metaloids, Nonmetals, halogens, and noble gases. Lanthanides and Actinides are broken out at the bottom.
