The knock sensor just advances and retards the engine timing only. If there is a noise in the engine then you have engine are valve train problems. The knock sensor will not make the engine knock.
That engine has 2 of them and you MUST remove the intake manifold to service the knock sensors.

Under the upper and lower intake manifolds at the back of the engine block.
on 4 cylinder models,the knock sensor is located on the rear (firewall) side of the engine block below the exhaust manifold..on v6 it is in front (radiater) side of the engine block above the oil filter!!
That engine has 2 of them and there both underneith the intake manifold. You can not see are get to them until you remove the intake.
There's 2 of them on that engine, And there underneith the INTAKE MANIFOLD. You must remove the intake to get to them.
