I Have a 99 Ford Explorer XLS 4X4 OHV and it does the same thing. I discovered that it is the Idle Air Control Valve(IAC) located under the intake manifold. You can try cleaning it first to see if that solves your problem, if not you can get a new one for about $45 to $50. Removal and installation are very easy once you locate it and identify it. Hope this helps anyone dealing with this annoying problem.
Car acceleration problems is a symptom of engine hesitation.
It is important to have a well working car while on the road. The lack of fuel getting to the engine would cause hesitation on acceleration,
One of the possible causes of a Pontiac Bonneville to jerk during acceleration is that the car needs a tune up. The engine misfiring can lead it to jerk as you accelerate.

It's lean. Could be something plugged in the carb.
The year, make, model and engine info would help but in general it could be a vacuum leak or time for a tune up.

do u mean that does yor engine move side to side during acceleration. well no because your foot is on the accelerate
Force equals mass times acceleration, so an alternative formula is acceleration equals force divided by mass. Therefore if the mass is decreased, the acceleration goes up. Thus a 100 HP engine on a motor cycle produces more acceleration than the same engine on a car.
No gas in the engine
check vacumn tube lines for cracks or disconnections...bank of vacumn lines are back of engine, right side, by computer modules.
