there is a dust cover behind the front rotors they sumtimes bend slightly and it causes the ticking and crackling
Get your brakes tested. I do not know what a ticking sound means.
I prefer to remove the tires to properly inspect my brakes whether for disc brakes or for drum brakes. It is not necessary though and you'll likely find most repair shops will do a brake inspection with the tires on unless they want to be able to show you the wear and remaining brake linings.
Its not your brakes making the noise. Most liklly your CV joint is warn out.

i had that happen to did you change your own brakes? because i sent mine in and it cost like $300 to get it fixed plus get brakes put on so idk what they put on to fix that ticking noise.

Is it drum brakes? It's time for an inspection unless you just wanna replace the rear brakes yourself.
basically means that brakes are out of adjustment and not all working toether easy fix. just get someone to adjust them correctly
It is legal to do the brakes yourself, but you will still have to pass an inspection. If the job is poor you may be fined.
You can take your vehicle to Les Swab and they sometimes will give you a free brake inspection before doing any actual work to your brakes and charging you.
The brakes need to be replaced when they feel soft or show signs of enough wear during visual inspection to warrant replacement, the same as any car.
