Your Carotid Artery takes blood to your brain. Even though they only cleaned out an artery, your brain has gone through trauma. You have undergone a serious operation. However, if they had left the junk in your artery, it would have closed up and killed you. Your brain should get used to a normal flow of blood and a normal amount of oxygen in a few days. Your body may make some adjustments because your brain is now receiving the normal amount of oxygen. Previous ans. mostly correct; If the surgery was recent, you may still have some lingering after-effects from the anesthia. If you are more than 2 weeks post-op, report to your doc or his nurse.

I had surgery for a retina detachment almost six weeks ago and still have headaches radiating from that eye. When I have my followups, they tell me it's common. I also checked the internet boards where it doesn't appear to be uncommon. For me, one Advil tablet gets me going in the morning and another one helps me sleep at night. It does get tiresome at times though.

I would worry if the headaches were severe though.
