∙ 14y agoi have two ingrowing toenails and i got one by cutting my nail short and the nail down the side became short and it won't stop growing into my skin and if you don't have surgery for it it makes you toe go square and swells up so much your whole foot becomes swolen and right now i can actually feel feel the nail from the side of my toe and its not nice so dont try it!!!!!

∙ 13y agoTight-fitting shoes, and nails cut really short can contribute to developing an ingrown toenail. Another possible cause can be NOT cutting your toenails for a long period of time so they grow into the skin. But mostly it's about what kind of body you were born with.

∙ 12y agoIt is very important to go to a podiatrist bc then it can get infected if you dont. What they will most likely do is preform a procedure to cut in your skin and clip the side where it is ingrown. Dont worry they will numb your toe really well.
I really suggest doing it. i waited 3 weeks to go to the doctor and mine got very infected. and way more painful.
I have had this procedure down 2 times and was a very good decision.

∙ 10y agoWhen you cut your nails you should try to cut it in a straight line or at least have it all longer than the tip of your finger. This a way to to prevent it because if cut to short in presses in to the skin and carry`s on growing inward.
