Men continue to produce sperm right up until they die but their abilty to gain and maintain an erection can decline with age. Like with most things there is likely to be a great deal of variation from one man to another. Men reach their sexual peak in their late teens and early 20 and I would imagine that many man might find that their sexual appetite and ability to gain or maintain an erection begins to decline from their late 40s onwards. Of course, as I said earlier, there is great variation from one man to another and some men may still be highly virile in their 80s and even later.

Erectile dysfunction if I may call it happens for a number of reasons really. Could be anything from mental or physical stress, emotional disturbances either from a past relationship or perhaps the man has a some medical issues that he needs to have attended by the doctor. Better to get checked.

A healthy male in 50s and in 60s can retain the capacity compared to a male in 40s with weak health and lack of desire. But generally, as we age, the ability to get an decreases a bit. This is due to lack of desire or it could be because of preoccupation of mind to several other matters of both personal and professional nature. For some the ability declines in 50s, but for others it may continue till late 60s.
