If I am understanding correctly, it sounds like a pulley may be bound up. Thereby causing the belt to rub and make alot of friction thus causing melting. It could be any pulley in the serpentine system. Remove the belt and feel all pulleys for any play.
should be a sticker on fan shroud Alternator, idler pulley, power steering, a/c, tensioner pulley, crankshaft pulley, water pump this is the order cant upload the picture but when placing the belt on if the pulley has the grooves in it the grooved side of the belt should face the pulley and if the pulley is smooth then the back of the belt faces the pulley
You can remove your serpentine belt by loosening the tensioner pulley. Pushed the tensioner pulley to the right and the serpentine belt can be easily removed.
Take the serpentine belt off and then take the crankshaft pulley off and you will need a puller to get the balancer off the crank.
