It may be the flasher needs replacing. We had to replace ours (it went after the car was off warranty). The dealer told us there was a recall for this for up to 2001 Grand Ams, they said we may be reimbursed later (but I doubt that). If your flasher keeps on ticking, you need to remove the signal control lever and clean the grease which may be contaminated with metal particles and replace with new di-elictric grease - this should solve you ticking problem. If you signal don't work sometimes - there is a recall on this item - you need to replace you flasher control located right above your radio - it's about $28.00 if you want to buy it - Dealer item.
the flasher that causes the turn signals to flash But where is the flasher located on this car?
Defective Flasher Relay.
Check the 2005 GMC Envoys turn signal flasher. The flasher could have an intermittent issue causing the signals to not work.
if only the turn signals are not working, you should replace the flasher can
Your emergency lights are on.
If the turn signals flash quickly, its because a bulb is out. Have you tried replacing the bulbs? Have you verified the replacement bulbs are indeed good? Sounds like a bulb or two may be out. The flasher depends on the bulb's current to set the flashing rate. If a bulb is out (or disconnected for some reason) the flasher usually will flash quickly or not at all.
Turn signal flasher
Check the bulbs first but it can also be the flasher.
First check the flashers fuse .Then replace the flasher with a good one. There might be two-one for turn signals and one for 4ways. Or they could be one.
Possible causes include broken wire, failed switch, blown fuse, faulty flasher.
Blown fuse, bad bulbs, defective Flasher Relay, bad wiring, or defective turn signal switch.
It depends on the car. Some cars require that you turn on the turn signals to make the 4-way flasher work. If that's the case with your vehicle, make sure the emergency flashers aren't on. Otherwise, it's probably a problem with the turn signal switch.
