Check the plug-in for the trailer lights, if it has one. If not, check the Headlight switch. It probably has a burnt wire.
most likely 2 options a short in a wire or other wise the headlight switch is screwed up and needs to be replaced
Dead short in circuit
Remove all bulbs and sockets
Replace fuse and start replacing bulbs one at a time to determine where problem exists so you can repair
a shorted wire to car ground. May be the license plate light shorted.
Don't rule that out.
sounds like a short circuit in trailer plug or wires to it?
There are no lights. their just reflectors.
The engine computer is the voltage regulator, and yes you can replace it.
have you replaced a brake light bulb? if you have a combined sidelight and brakelight you need a double contact bulb. if someone has fitted a single contact bulb, eg an indicator bulb, the terminal touches both the brake and sidelight terminals crossing them out, bringing sidelights on when brake and brakelights when s/lights switched on. hope this helps
The 1998 Nissan Frontier is wired so one bulb indicates braking and parking light use. This is accomplished with a double-fliament bulb. The inherent advantage/flaw in this design is that one filament can blow while the other remains functional. This can be confusing when attempting to isolate and replace the defective bulb.
