The gravitational effect of the moon causes both the high tide and low tides. The gravity of the moon attracts water which then is attracted by the much powerful force of the earth. These gravitational forces cause low and high tides.

Tides are periodic rises and falls of large bodies of water. Tides are caused by the gravitational interaction between the Earth and the Moon. The gravitational attraction of the moon causes the oceans to bulge out in the direction of the moon. Another bulge occurs on the opposite side, since the Earth is also being pulled toward the moon (and away from the water on the far side). Since the earth is rotating while this is happening, two tides occur each day. These bulges are measured as high tides.

high and low tides are caused due to the gravitational forces of moon and sun acting on ocean water

The moon and the earth have gravitational pulls toward each other. The moon force causes a distortion of the waters of the earth, pulling the waters towards itself. High tide is caused by the pulling of the earth's water on the moon's side by the moon's gravitational force. On the opposite side of the earth, you might expect low tides to occur, but this not the case. On the opposite side of the earth, the waters tend to bulge away from the moon which is also away from the earth and results in high tide, too. That is why you get high tides twice a day even though rotation of the moon around the earth is only once a day. The low tide occurs in right angels to the moon and is the result of the pull of the earth and moon being close to equal. on the opposite side of the earth - the side further away from the moon - results.
the moon's gravitational force pulls on water in the oceans so that there are "bulges" in the ocean on both sides of the planet. The moon pulls water toward it, and this causes the bulge toward the moon. The bulge on the side of the Earth opposite the moon is caused by the moon "pulling the Earth away" from the water on that side.

If you are on the coast and the moon is directly overhead, you should experience a high tide. If the moon is directly overhead on the opposite side of the planet, you should also experience a high tide.

During the day, the Earth rotates 180 degrees in 12 hours. The moon, meanwhile, rotates 6 degrees around the earth in 12 hours. The twin bulges and the moon's rotation mean that any given coastal city experiences a high tide every 12 hours and 25 minutes or so.

That's a little different for every day, and for every location. You can generally look up tide tables online, or in published lists for any seaport city or estuary.

In terms of astronomy it's to do with the position of the Moon and to a lesser extent, the Sun. Normally there are two high tides each day. One "bulge" of

water is roughly "under" the Moon, and the other high tide is at the opposite

side of the Earth.

The reason earth experiences high as well as low tides is due to the position of the moon and as the moon moves the tides change.
