What is 400 ml in grams?

Millilitres equal grams of weight with water only....so in a cheffing situation for water, wine, vinegar etc. you could use a direct conversion....it's only when you use liquids that are heavier than water like oil that it makes a difference.....I hope this makes sense. Does an egg float in water with flour?

In a mixture of oil and water, the two will separate with the oil on top. If the water has enough solute in it (salt, sugar), the egg will float in the water, but not above the oil. An egg is denser than fresh water, but less dense than salt water. It is denser than most oils.
