Temple Square, the headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, (commonly called the "Mormon" Church) is located in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Utah.

Near Temple Square are two of the homes of Brigham Young, the Beehive House and the Lion House. Temple Square also contains a huge statue of Brigham Young, a 20,000 seat Conference Center, a museum, a huge genealogical library, the Church History Library, two visitor centers, the Tabernacle (home of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir), an Assembly Hall, the Salt Lake Temple, office buildings, gardens, parks, and the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, which houses theatres, restaurants, and conference rooms.

The beautiful grounds and the majority of the buildings are open for free public tours. They also provide free concerts, movie screenings, and worship services to the public. You can learn more about visiting Temple Square at the "Related Link" below.

Who was president that gave statehood to Mormons?

The "Mormons" were never given a state or made a state. The Mormons suggested a state called Deseret, but it was denied and was never made a state. The state of Utah became a state in 1896 during the administration of Grover Cleveland. The boundaries were drawn by the federal government and the name was chosen by the government as well. The population of the state was mostly Mormon, but there was a sizeable population of other religious groups as well. So, Grover Cleveland gave statehood to Utah, not to Mormons. Most Mormons at the time lived within Utah, but they did not choose the boundaries or the name.

Which state is inhabited by the Mormons?

Every state! There are over six million members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the 'Mormon' church) living in the United States, and at least several thousand Mormons in each state. What did the Mormons have to do before Utah could be proclaimed a state?

Some say that the Mormons had to denounce polygamy before Utah became a state. This may or may not be true, as the plans to make Utah a state were in action before the Church officially denounced polygamy. Either way, Mormons arrived there in 1847, Utah became a territory in 1850, Mormons ended polygamy in 1890, and Utah became a state in 1896.
