Most animals that does not lay an egg or nest of eggs is mainly considered to be part of the mammal family. Also mammals will usually have fur and/or hair. Humans are one example of mammals. Other mammals include felines, canines, rodents, Equidie (Horse). There are only 3 egg-laying mammals: the platypus, the short-beaked echidna and the long-beaked echidna.

The defining traits of rodents is having front teeth that continuously grow, repairing themselves to make up for the wear and tear of gnawing. Rats and mice have these teeth. They are fairly typical rodents, being very small mammals that are mostly herbivorous and reproduce quickly.
