I am scottish..and I wear what I like and what fits me. I would think if you are talking of fashion it would be very much European and American which is similar. I know having lived in the States for many years before coming back to the UK.

If it is local culture...then they would wear the clan tartan, and something like the dress shown on this website.

Like all countries, Scotland has its traditions and its culture. Which can easly be found on the internet, by putting Scotland traditional ???? in the search box.

By the way, I am Scottish but I detest the traditional Scottish breakfast of porridge, which goes to show that you can't judge a book by its cover...all peoples will have their interpretation of what and who they are and will show it in the way they eat, dress, talk and think. So don't take anything as concrete...go looking for more answers...

A traditional Scottish outfit would be the kilt. This is often worn with a Prince Charlie jacket for a formal outift, typically seen at weddings and black tie events, but can be worn casually for any occasion. I have a guide to kilt wearing on my site buyakilt.com//kilt-wearing-guide to give you a better idea.

Scotland clothing mainly features the tartan which is the traditional dress of Scotland. People of the Highland Scots mostly wear this dress. Kilt was the one of the traditional Scotland dress of the people.

The modern Scotland clothing comprises of jackets, sporran, skean dhu, kilt hose and garters. Kilt is only worn by men because it is male garment .Very few people wear tartans and these Scotland traditional dresses are mostly found in the tourist markets. Seldom you can see a tartan trouser or tartan bonnet.

Ladies prefer to wear well cut curtain skirt. The length of the skirt mostly depends on the fashion trend. Some ladies prefer to wear calf-length skirts with belts .They also wear blouses with cuffs or collars .Velvet silk jackets are also worn by the people.

For daily wear men wear dresses according to their need. They wear shirts, pullovers or an anork. Different varieties of shoes and stockings can be worn.

People do not like to wear tartan ties. Due to the hot weather jackets are avoided. Ties are mostly worn with jackets in churches, parades and receptions. Feathers are not allowed on the bonnets

In the mountainous area heavier stockings are worn.

Scottish women, like women everywhere, are individuals and they wear what they choose. the brands and styles of clothing that are popular elsewhere as part of western fashion and culture are freely available in Scotland.

Clothing choice will be influenced by various factors, e.g. socio-economic/class background, location, age, peer groups, occasion, and - also frequently taken into consideration by scottish women - the weather! Impossible to generalise - varies greatly depending on above (and other) influences. National dress would be a kilt with maybe a white blouse and waistcoat, socks and shoes, but in Scotland you are more likely to see a man dressed in a kilt than a woman - women only really wear them at ceilidhs (traditional party/dance).
