The manufacturer recommends use of Dexcool coolant. It is orange in color as opposed to traditional green coolant. Many automotive technicians do not like Dexcool because as it ages it leaves crusty residue on the inside of the cooling system. However, the decision to use Dexcool was made by a team of engineers with more college degrees than any of the technicians who choose against it. I have found that Dexcool vehicles that are exposed to green coolant for too long tend to leak around the thermostat housing as well as other places that they normally don't leak from when the proper coolant is used. It is always a good idea to use the factory recommended coolant on all vehicles. Dexcool is more expensive than regular coolant, but it should always be used in Dexcool applications. Other makes such as Toyota, Volkswagon, and Chrysler all use their own coolants on newer vehicles as well.
