Marilyn Monroe had vivid cornflower blue eyes. So what if a passport said brown? Typos happen all the time? They really couldn't manipulate film in the way you think they can. They could basically do color corrections (which effects the whole picture and can't be independently changed) or put bleach on the negative to lighten areas - eyes, teeth, jewelry.

Technicolor CANNOT CHANGE COLORS LIKE THAT ON FLIM. They didn't have computers that did any sort of graphics back then. I received a copy of my birth certificate that said I was born in 1995. That doesn't mean it is accurate. Again, typos happen frequently - so frequently that all US laws acknowledge that paperwork errors are not binding in any way. This is seriously the most ridiculous discussion I have ever heard. It is just weird that this ONE alleged passport says brown, and every other ID that shows up on Google says blue - including her birth certificate.

Point being, if they were to change a color on film - it would effect the whole frame. So, with that in mind, if they wanted to turn Marilyn's "Brown" eyes blue, ALL BROWN would be turned blue. How did they have brunettes in movies back then. Also, they weren't lighting her in her movies or photos to emphasize her eyes, they were trying to make her look as attractive as possible overall.

I am absolutely sure that her eyes are blue as I have thousands of dollars worth of original photographs, as well. I also was raised by a parent who had been a photographer since the 1960s - and was taught a lot of the tricks of doing film. What you describe just wasn't possible. It's absurd and ridiculous.

But the most ridiculous part of this discussion is the part about how brunettes are more likely to have brown eyes. Sorry, but I'm a brunette with medium-gray eyes - that look very different depending on the conditions of the photograph. They can look brown, they can look a dark vivid blue, they can look a shining emerald green (especially around grass) - but they are very clearly are a dull colorless gray when you look at them up close. Which is weird, because if you go to Northern Europe and Western Russia, A LOT of people have brown hair and blue/green/gray eyes. You all are basing your opinion on the people that you live around.

the previous answer was cornflower blue but i think that is wrong for these reasons;

basically most of Marylin's photos show she has dark eyes, and the odd good picture shows she has brown. Then there's the very vivid colour photos that clearly show she has blue eyes, however these in my opinion look like the colour was added to the photo. Some people say she wore blue lenses but that seems silly to me, as i don't think they existed back then. Many of her popular colour films show she had blue eyes, but these were in technicolour so they could have simply been changed to blue.

I read just now that it said on her passport that she had brown. And also remember that Marylin was actually a brunette.

The official Marilyn Munroe website claims that her eyes were blue. While this is possible its unlikely since her natural hair colour was dark, and most dark haired women have dark eyes.

One of the reasons her eyes appear dark on film is because of her signature pose where she lowers her eyelids not allowing for the light to hit them making them appear darker.
