### What is the base unit for the metric system?

The base unit for length in the metric system is the meter. The
base unit for mass in the metric system is the kilogram. The base
unit for time is the second. The base unit for temperature is the
Kelvin. The base unit for electrical current is the ampere. The
base unit for an amount of a substance is the mole. The base unit
for luminous intensity is the Candela.
All of the other units in the metric system are combinations of
this one.

### What is the difference between derived quantities and fundamental quantities?

In the SI system, there are two categories of
unit: the Base Unit and the Derived Unit. There is no
such category as 'fundamental unit'.
There are seven Base Units. These are: the metre,
kilogram, second, ampere, kelvin, candela, and mole.
All other units are Derived Units, and these are
combinations of Base Units, sometimes given special names. For
example, the coulomb is a Derived Unit, and is equivalent to an
ampere second, which are both Base Units..

### Differentiate between metric unit and base unit?

A metric unit is the standard unit used to measure something. A
base unit is one of he following seven units: meter (length),
kilogram (mass), second (time), ampere (current), kelvin
(temperature), mole (amount of substance) and candela (luminosity).
They're referred to as the base units as all other metric units can
be derived from them.

### What are all the units of mass in the metric system?

in the mks (SI) metric, the base unit is kilogram. in the cgs
metric system, the base unit is gram. There are many prefixes that
can be added to gram to determine the magnitude in power of ten.
See related link for a list of prefixes.
Right, and don't forget the tonne. Though equivalent to 1
megagram or 1000 kg the word tonne is commonly used.

###### Asked in Physics

### What are differentiate fundamental units to derived units?

The derived unit is from a combination of fundamental units. A
fundamental unit is a centimeter. A derived unit is a cubic
centimeter, or a cube that is a centimeter on each side. Derived
units are mainly used for measuring liquids
Answer
The correct term is 'base unit', NOT 'fundamental unit'. There
are seven base units: metre, kilogram, second, ampere, kelvin,
candela, and mole. ALL other units are called 'derived units'. For
example, the unit of electrical charge, the 'coulomb' is a derived
unit which equates to the base units 'ampere second'.

### Is there a list of all army personnel who served in the Pacific Theater in World War 2?

As far as I know other then a list of every unit which served in
the Pacific unit there would be no such list. To obtain a list of
all units having credit for serving in the Pacific Theater would be
a large task. There were many, many army units and sub units
attached to specific divisions and air force units ( they, during
WW2 were the US Army Air Force) with all their supporting units.
Engineers Battalions, and so on. Far to numerous to list.
